Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective date: August 24, 2026·Last updated: August 10, 2026
This policy explains how to cancel an Emekly subscription and when you can get your money back. It forms part of our Terms of Service (§5.2–5.4); where this page and the Terms describe the same rule, they are intended to mean exactly the same thing.
At a glance
Cancel any time
One click in Account Settings. No fee, no email required.
Keep what you paid for
Access continues to the end of the period you already paid for.
14-day refund
Full refund if you haven't used a paid feature yet.
1. Cancelling your subscription
You can cancel a paid Emekly subscription at any time from Account Settings. There is no cancellation fee, no minimum term, and you do not need to contact us first.
When you cancel:
- Your subscription stops renewing — you will not be charged again.
- You keep full access to your Pro or Premium features for the remainder of the billing period you have already paid for.
- When that period ends, your account automatically reverts to the Free plan. Your data, CVs and history are not deleted.
Cancelling on its own does not issue a refund, and no partial-period credit is given for the unused remainder of a cancelled period. If you also want your money back, see section 2.
2. The 14-day refund guarantee
You are entitled to a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase, provided you have not used any paid feature in that time.
Not sure whether you qualify? You don't have to guess. Your Account Settings page shows whether a refund is still available on your account and how many days remain, based on your actual usage.
The 14 days run from your first payment, not from each renewal. Renewal payments are not covered by this guarantee — cancel before your renewal date to avoid being charged for a period you do not want.
3. What counts as using the service
Emekly is a digital service that delivers its value the moment a paid feature runs — the AI analysis, document or recommendation is produced immediately and cannot be returned. For that reason, performing any of the following within the refund window means the service is fully rendered and consumed, and the purchase becomes non-refundable under this section:
- Running a CV or resume analysis
- Generating an ATS compatibility score
- Generating an AI cover letter
- Generating an Apply Kit
- Using the auto-apply / auto-fill tool
- Sending an Emekly Advisor message on a paid plan
Simply signing in, browsing job listings, editing your profile, or using free-plan features does not count as consumption and does not affect your eligibility.
If you have used a paid feature, you keep full access until your current billing period ends, and you can still cancel under section 1 to prevent any further charge.
4. Case-by-case refunds
Section 2 is a guarantee, not a ceiling. Outside that window we review requests individually and in good faith, and will normally issue a refund where:
- You were charged twice, or charged after cancelling.
- A billing error on our side resulted in the wrong amount or the wrong plan.
- A sustained technical fault on our side prevented you from using the features you paid for.
- The subscription was purchased without the account holder's authorisation.
Requests that fall outside both section 2 and the situations above are considered at our discretion. We may take into account how much of the service has been used, how long ago the payment was made, and the circumstances you describe. We aim to be reasonable rather than technical about it — if something has genuinely gone wrong, tell us.
5. Your statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits or replaces any right of withdrawal, cancellation or refund you have under mandatory consumer protection law in your country. Where such a right applies and conflicts with anything on this page, the law takes precedence.
Consumers in the UK, EU and EEA: digital content supplied immediately with your consent may end your statutory right of withdrawal once supply begins. Our 14-day guarantee in section 2 is offered in addition to, and does not reduce, whatever rights remain available to you.
6. How to request a refund
Email support@emekly.com from the address on your Emekly account, and include:
- The email address registered to your Emekly account
- The approximate date of the payment
- A short description of why you would like a refund
We aim to respond within 2 business days and to reach a decision within 5 business days. Because our payments are processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record, you may also raise a refund request directly with Paddle using the receipt they emailed you.
7. How approved refunds are paid
Refunds are issued by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record and the seller of record for your purchase, back to the original payment method. We cannot refund to a different card or account.
Paddle typically processes an approved refund within a few business days; how quickly it then appears on your statement depends on your bank or card issuer, and commonly takes a further 5–10 business days.
Once a refund is issued, your Pro or Premium access ends immediately and your account returns to the Free plan. Your account and data are not deleted — if you would like them removed as well, you can delete your account from Account Settings.
